Savings bonds are the long term form of savings and it is considered as a risk less Investment Avenue by the investors. If the company is in a position of bankruptcy then the investor will never get their money back and hence care must be taken in selecting the companies to invest the Savings Bonds.

The second form of the public Savings long term Bonds are released by the government and public limited companies. The long term Bonds are also sold by post offices and this is the most savings option for senior citizens and other investors investing in the Savings Bonds. The government run companies and oil companies sell the long term Bonds to the investors on a regular basis and these form a source of debt funding to the companies. These types of Savings Bonds are secure and yield a fixed rate of return as specified in the bond document. The investor must decide on the tenure of the bond period but in most cases these types of Savings Bonds sold by governmental agencies come with a fixed tenure of 10 years lock in period and the customers have no choice of customization in these investments and once invested, the investor can get back his principal amount along with the interest only after the investment period. This is a restriction on the part of the investors and the invested amount will be used by the company in buying raw materials, resources and infrastructure development etc.
